Technology-based solutions rely on the development and application of advanced technologies to address specific challenges. These solutions often involve the use of engineering, innovation, and scientific advancements to create tools, systems, or processes.
When reviewing technology-based solutions for smart water management within food companies and farming, there are several application areas that could be taken into consideration. For the purposes of this project, we will focus on technologies that enable the circulation of water within the food system, both from industry processes to farms as well as within industry processes and farms. This means focusing on technologies that disinfect water or capture nutrients, heavy metals or other pollutants from it. On the farming side, relevant technologies relate to the water management of fields.
